Transavia to open Copenhagen base
Transavia, the Dutch low-cost airline, have announced that they will open a base at Copenhagen, in place of the recent bankrupted Danish airline Sterling. From 08 December 2008 they will operate 10 routes from Copenhagen including flights to Malaga, Alicante, Arrecife, Las Palmas, Tenerife (Sur), Faro, Rome (Fiumicino), Nice, Salzburg and Innsbruck.

Norwegian to fly new Spanish and Austrian routes
Norwegian Air Shuttle have put on sale flights from their Oslo (International) base to Barcelona, launching next month (from 27 October 2008). They will also begin flying from Warsaw to Salzburg from January 2009.

easyJet to fly Gatwick - Salzburg
easyJet will begin flying from their London (Gatwick) base to Salzburg this winter. From 13 December 2008 they will fly three times per week.

New seasonal flights from Transavia
Transavia have put five new seasonal routes on sale to Austria and Germany. These include routes to Innsbruck from Berlin (Tegel), Brussels (International) and Hamburg (Fuhlsbuettel), as well as flights from Brussels (International) to Salzburg and Rotterdam to Friedrichshafen.

Sterling winter 08 flights on sale

New Ryanair routes from Bremen
Ryanair will launch two new routes from Bremen on 03 June 2008. They will begin flights from Bremen to Haugesund in Norway and Salzburg in Austria.

Ryanair will begin flying between Salzburg and Gothenburg (Saeve) this winter. They will operate weekly flights from 22 December 2007.

13 new Ryanair routes from Stockholm
Ryanair will increase capacity at their Stockholm (Skavsta) base this October. They will begin flights from Stockholm (Skavsta) to Alicante, Basel, Berlin (Schoenefeld), Bratislava, Eindhoven, Karlsruhe-Baden, Liverpool, Malta, Pisa, Oporto, Salzburg (from December 2007), Trapani and Valencia.
Jet2 winter flights on sale
Jet2 have put some winter routes on sale, including new flights to Chambery from Edinburgh and Belfast (International). They will also fly to Chambery from Newcastle, Leeds Bradford and Manchester, to Geneva from Leeds Bradford and Manchester and to Salzburg from Leeds Bradford. Flights will begin from 10 December 2007.

New routes for Norwegian
Norwegian Air Shuttle have put two new winter routes on sale. From 29 December 2007, they will begin flying from Warsaw to Salzburg and from Oslo (International) to Zurich. These flights can be booked now at www.norwegian.no.

Ryanair makes Bristol their 20th base
Today, Ryanair announced that Bristol would become their 20th European base. They announced 13 new routes from their airport, which will begin from November 2007. These include flights from Bristol to Bratislava, Riga, Katowice, Rzeszow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Budapest, Salzburg, Oporto, Knock, Milan (Orio al Serio) and Dinard. This move may surprise some, given that Bristol is a well established easyJet base, and has been for many years.
Ryanair had also announced a new route from Bristol to Derry, but the future of Derry became uncertain today when it had its license to operate flights revoked by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. All flights to Derry are suspended with immediate effect.

New Sterling flights for winter
This winter, Sterling will begin a number of new routes from their Scandinavian bases. From the end of October 2007, they will begin flying to Dortmund from Stockholm (Arlanda), Copenhagen and Oslo (International). From mid-December they will begin flying to Salzburg from Stockholm (Arlanda) and Oslo (International), and to Chambery from Stockholm (Arlanda), Copenhagen, Oslo (International), Billund and Gothenburg (Landvetter). Hapag-Lloyd Express expansion at Leipzig
From the end of October 2006, Hapag-Lloyd Express will launch new routes from Leipzig to Dusseldorf and Munich. They will also add 2 new routes from Leipzig to Salzburg and Klagenfurt from mid-December.

Eindhoven and other winter flights with Transavia
Dutch low-cost airline Transavia will launch flights from Eindhoven from 30 October 2006. They will begin flying to Alicante, Malaga and Faro. They have also added 3 routes for the winter season including Rotterdam to Innsbruck and Geneva, and Amsterdam to Salzburg.

SkyEurope to fly between Paris and Salzburg
From 15 September 2006, Sky Europe will begin flying 3 times per week between Paris (Orly) and Salzburg.
Jet2 flights to Geneva and Salzburg
Jet2 will launch some winter flights on 11 December 2006. These will include routes from their Leeds Bradford base to Geneva and Salzburg, and also from Manchester to Geneva.

flybe announce more winter flights
flybe have announced a further 8 new routes in their winter timetable, which will begin flying from mid-December 2006.
The new routes include Berne from Southampton and Birmingham, Chambery from Norwich and Birmingham, Salzburg from Southampton and Birmingham and also Geneva from both Southampton and Birmingham.

flybe winter routes on sale
flybe have put a number of new routes on sale for the forthcoming winter season. These include, from 29 October 2006, flights to Aberdeen from Leeds Bradford and Exeter, to Amsterdam from Exeter and Norwich, from Birmingham to Hanover, and from Belfast (City) to Doncaster and Galway.
From 16 December, they will launch skiing routes to Geneva from Exeter and Norwich, and from Exeter to both Salzburg and Chambery.
Their schedule also shows some flights beginning 08 March 2007 from Birmingham to Aberdeen and Galway.

Ryanair to launch 16 new routes from Dublin
From April 2006, Ryanair will base 5 new aircraft at Dublin airport and will launch 16 new routes. They will also increase flight frequencies on 8 other routes from Dublin.
The new routes from Dublin will include Kaunas, Bratislava, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Malmo, Gothenburg, Venice (Treviso), Milan (Orio al Serio), Salzburg, Oporto, Valencia, Marseille, Nantes, La Rochelle, Hamburg (Luebeck) and Karlsruhe-Baden.
Ryanair will also launch a flight between Dublin and Humberside, which will become the first low-cost route from Humberside airport.

Ryanair expands at Brussels Charleroi
Ryanair will add 5 routes from their Brussels (S. Charleroi) base from April 2006. They will begin flying to Faro, Nimes, Valencia, Salzburg and Malaga.

SkyEurope announces winter ski routes
In addition to the previously announced route to Poprad (Tatry), SkyEurope have announced routes between Salzburg and Barcelona, Manchester and Warsaw and between Innsbrook and Paris (Orly) and Amsterdam.
These flights are available to book for the winter 05/06 season.

Thomsonfly announces winter timetable
Thomsonfly have put their winter 2005/06 timetable on sale. This includes routes to cover winter ski destinations, from Doncaster, Bournemouth and Coventry to Lyon and from Coventry and Bournemouth to Salzburg. They have also announced new routes to the Canary Islands, including flights from Bournemouth and Doncaster to Tenerife (Sur) and from Doncaster to Las Palmas (Gran Canaria).
This winter, they will also begin flying to Alicante from Bournemouth and to Amsterdam from Doncaster.

Thomsonfly announce new routes for winter
Thomsonfly have announced that their winter timetable (from November 2004) will include a range of new destinations from their hub at Coventry. The new destinations include Cork, Shannon, Amsterdam, Alicante, Salzburg and Grenoble.
No doubt this means a number of routes from their summer schedule will disappear, although they have not yet been announced.

EUjet plans British budget launch for September 04
EUjet have announced, after a much anticipated wait, that they will begin a budget operation primarily based at Kent (Manston), an airport the owners would like to see dubbed as ‘London-Manston’. They will also have a 2nd hub at Shannon in Ireland.
From Manston, EUjet are scheduled to fly to a range of destinations in Europe, flights beginning in September include: Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, Faro, Girona, Jersey, Murcia, Nice and Prague.
Further routes are due to begin from Manston in October, including: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Madrid, Malaga, Manchester, Milan (Malpensa) and Palma (Mallorca). Their final batch of new routes (still from Manston!) are scheduled to take-off in December, including: Geneva, Salzburg, Toulouse, Turin and Zurich.
Their routes from Shannon are due to begin from September (again over a period of months), to Dublin, Geneva, Malaga and Murcia.
