Ryanair to launch new Newcastle to Oslo route

14 new easyJet routes for summer 2009

easyJet put 14 new routes on sale yesterday across their European network. The new flights will launch between May and July 2009, and include routes from Bristol to Bastia and Corfu, Liverpool to Bordeaux, Dubrovnik and Naples, Manchester to Bastia, Athens and Corfu, Newcastle to Malta, Paris (Charles de Gaulle) to Ajaccio, Bilbao to Ibiza, Basel to Bordeaux, Berlin (Schoenefeld) to Dubrovnik, and Geneva to Dubrovnik.

Two new Ryanair routes from Shannon

Ryanair will launch two new routes from their Shannon base this November. They are due to launch flights from Shannon to Frankfurt (Hahn) and Newcastle, and tickets are already on sale for these new flights.

Jet2 have put four new routes on sale for the 2009 summer season. This includes flights from their Leeds Bradford base to Dubrovnik (from 27 April 2009) and Larnaca (from 17 May). 3 new flybe routes from Newcastle

flybe will add three new routes from Newcastle in the coming months. These include flights to London (Gatwick) and Aberdeen (both from 30 March 2008), and weekly flights to Rennes in France (from 24 May). The Gatwick flights will replace a route that is discontinued by Jet2 as of the end of March.

easyJet to begin flights to Tangier

easyJet will launch flights from their Madrid base to the Moroccan city of Tangier. They will launch flights at the end of February 2008. Jet2 winter flights on sale

Jet2 have put some winter routes on sale, including new flights to Chambery from Edinburgh and Belfast (International). They will also fly to Chambery from Newcastle, Leeds Bradford and Manchester, to Geneva from Leeds Bradford and Manchester and to Salzburg from Leeds Bradford. Jet2 winter sun destinations on sale

Jet2 have just put part of their 2007 winter timetable on sale. This includes flights from Leeds Bradford to Arrecife and Las Palmas, from Manchester to Las Palmas, Tenerife (Sur) and Arrecife, from Newcastle to Arrecife and Las Palmas, from Belfast (International) to Tenerife (Sur) and Las Palmas and from Blackpool to Tenerife (Sur). The timetable comes into effect from the end of October.

Four new routes for easyJet

easyJet have put four new routes on sale for next year, including Newcastle to Mahon (14 July 2007) and Krakow (30 March), Bristol to Bordeaux from the end of March, and from East Midlands to Ibiza from mid-July.

Jet2 to fly from Newcastle to London

From 25 March 2007 Jet2 will begin flying between Newcastle and London (Gatwick). They will fly three times per week on this route, replacing a service which British Airways will cease to operate.

Massive Ryanair expansion at Girona

Ryanair will add 17 new routes from their Girona base in February and March 2007. These new routes include flights to the Canary Islands and North Africa, with flights to Tenerife (North), Fuerteventura and Marrakech. They will also add flights to other European cities, including Bristol, Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley in the UK, Oporto and Faro in Portugal, Trapani, Bologna (Forli), Pescara and Verona (Brescia) in Italy, Gothenburg (Saeve) and Malmo in Sweden, Aarhus (Denmark), Oslo (Torp) (Norway) and Altenburg (Germany). Jet2 expand Spanish flights from Newcastle

Jet2 will increase their presence at Newcastle airport, increasing the number of routes that they operate from their airport to 13. They will begin flying from late March 2007 to Malaga and Palma, and from late May to Valencia and Almeria.

easyJet already fly from Newcastle to Malaga and Palma, and this expansion will see Jet2 and easyJet going head-to-head for the first time on these new routes.

Krakow is a new destination for Jet2

Jet2 will launch 2 new routes to Krakow from the end of October 2006. They will fly from both their Leeds Bradford and Newcastle bases to Krakow, which will become their first Polish destination.

Jet2 to fly to Chambery for winter

Jet2 will boost winter links to Chambery from the north of England this winter when they launch flights from their Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle bases. They will begin flying up to 4 times per week from 11 December 2006.

Air Scotland expands.. into England

Air Scotland will scale back the flights they operate from Scotland this summer, in favour of flying from English airports instead. From 07 June 2006, they will begin flying weekly from Birmingham and Newcastle to Girona. This follows their recent announcement that Manchester would become an Air Scotland base.

This move will see them scale back some routes planned from Glasgow (International) and Edinburgh.

Jet2 connect Newcastle and Tenerife

Jet2 will launch a route from Newcastle to Tenerife from October 2006. The route is currently scheduled to run for the winter 06/07 season.

Jet2 expand at Newcastle

Jet2 have put 3 new routes on sale today from Newcastle, confirming their intention to make it a hub airport.

From 26 April 2006, they will begin flying daily to Amsterdam. From 22 May they will also commence routes to Menorca and Pisa.

Aberdeen – Newcastle connection with Air Wales

From 14 November 2005, Air Wales will launch a flight, operating 6 times per week, between Aberdeen and Newcastle. This will act as a replacement for the service that they will terminate shortly prior to the 14th, between Plymouth, Liverpool and Aberdeen.

Air Wales already offers connections from Newcastle to Cardiff and Plymouth.

Jet2 move in to Blackpool

Following our recent discussion as to whether Jet2 are likely to expand further at Newcastle, they have announced the launch of 3 routes from Blackpool. From 04 November 2005, Jet2 will operate a flight 4-times per week from Blackpool to Belfast (International). They will begin routes to Palma (Mallorca) and Murcia on 06 April 2006.

Thomsonfly expands across UK

Thomsonfly has announced that they will begin selling “frequent”, “low-cost” flights from 11 UK regional airports from summer 2006. This will no doubt see capacity from the parent group, Thomson, being utilised for Thomsonfly branded flying.

Thomsonfly already operate flights from Coventry, Doncaster and Bournemouth, but from May 2006 will begin operating flights from Cardiff, Glasgow, London (Luton and Gatwick), Birmingham (International), East Midlands, Manchester and Newcastle. Destinations announced so far include Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza and Palma (Mallorca).

New Thomsonfly routes from these 8 additional regional airports are available to book now at Summer 2006 routes from their current bases will be available to book shortly.

easyjet announces route from Newcastle to Faro

easyJet will launch a new route from Newcastle to Faro on 1 November 2005. The new route will operate 3 times per week, and is available to book now.

Jet2 connects Cork and Newcastle

Jet2 will launch a new route between Newcastle and Cork on 20 October 2005. This will be their second route from Newcastle, and suggests that they may be considering further expansion here.

Ryanair launches 8 new routes to Britain

Ryanair have announced that they will add 8 new routes to Britain during the forthcoming winter season.

In particular, they have announced an expansion at Liverpool, where they will begin flying to Oslo (Torp), Riga, Bergerac and Carcassonne.

They will also begin flying to Krakow for the first time from London (Stansted) and Glasgow (Prestwick). This will see Ryanair introduce the 4th low-cost route from London to Krakow, and they will compete directly with SkyEurope, who already fly from Stansted.

Toulon becomes another new destination for Ryanair – they will begin flying there from Stansted in October 2005.

Ryanair will also begin operating a route from Oslo (Torp) to Newcastle. While Newcastle is not currently a base for Ryanair, this may indicate an intention to expand further there.

Jet2 adds routes to Murcia

Jet2 will launch 2 new routes to Murcia. In the first instance, they will launch a route on 04 September 2005 from Newcastle to Murcia – their first route from Newcastle.

They will also launch a route from Belfast (International) to Murcia for the 2006 summer season, commencing 01 July 2006.

easyJet adds 5 new summer destinations

easyJet will add 5 new summer routes in July from their various UK bases. These include:

Belfast to Faro (beginning 16 July 2005)
Newcastle to Ibiza (from 23 July)
Liverpool to Ibiza (from 24 July)
London (Gatwick) to Menorca (from 21 July)
Bristol to Menorca (from 23 July)

EUjet announce new summer routes

EUJet will commence 8 new routes from Kent (Manston) for the summer 2005. From 27 March they will launch new flights to Alicante, Budapest, Belfast (International), Newcastle, Girona and Cologne-Bonn. From 01 May they will launch routes to Seville and Valencia.

easyJet summer 05 timetable on sale

Today, easyJet has announced the first part of their summer timetable. Various flights are on sale now from Belfast, Bristol, Newcastle and East Midlands for the summer 2005 season.

Hapag-Lloyd Express announce new routes for 05

Hapag-Lloyd Express have announced a selection of new routes which they will begin flying from 09 March 2005. These include Cologne-Bonn to Shannon, Newcastle and Rijeka in Croatia. They are the first airline to add Rijeka to the ‘European low-fares map’, and will also fly there from Hanover.

From Hanover they will also begin flying new routes to Stockholm (Arlanda) and Pisa. From Munich they will add routes to Newcastle, Palermo and Olbia,

In addition, on 05 December 2004 Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin a new service connecting Hamburg and Edinburgh.

Ryanair to expand Milan hub next year

Ryanair have announced that they will expand their hub at Milan (Orio al Serio) next year. They will add 7 new routes, bringing the total number of routes flown from the airport up to 16.

6 of the new routes will commence on 25 February 2005, these include Oslo (Torp), Newcastle, Liverpool, Seville, Zaragoza and Eindhoven. They will also begin a route to Valencia on 19 January 2005.

In addition to their expansion at Milan, it would seem they are due to begin a new route from Frankfurt (Hahn) to Klagenfurt on 01 March 2005.

easyJet winter timetable

easyJet have begun the sale of their winter timetable in stages, this includes a number of new routes not previously announced. These new routes include Bristol and Newcastle to Geneva and Rome (Ciampino), Geneva to Alicante, Madrid and Rome (Ciampino), and Paris (Orly) to Madrid.

These routes begin in November 2004 and are on sale now (up until the end of March 2004), with more to be released.

easyJet announce new Eastern European routes

easyJet have today revealed that they will begin flying a further 6 routes in Eastern Europe, from 31 October 2004, bringing their total number of routes in Eastern and Central Europe up to 17.

The new routes include London (Luton) to Warsaw and Krakow, Dortmund to Krakow, and routes between Budapest and Bristol, Newcastle and Geneva. In addition, they will increase the frequency of their service between Budapest and London (Luton).

easyJet have promised even further expansion into Eastern Europe, unlike Ryanair who, despite early promises, are yet to expand in this direction at all.

flybe announces new UK domestic routes

In addition to their previously announced new route from Southampton to Newcastle, flybe will begin new routes from Southampton to Manchester and from Exeter to Newcastle. Services begin from November 2004.

New flybe route: Newcastle – Exeter

In mid-October flybe will begin flying a new daily route from Newcastle to Exeter, an exact start date is yet to be fixed.
