Wizz Air to launch routes from Katowice to Memmingen and Venice

Wizz Air have put two new routes on sale from Katowice. The new flights, which begin in late September 2009, will operate from Katowice to Memmingen and Venice (Treviso).

New Bourgas and Crete routes from Katowice

Wizz Air will launch two new routes from their Katowice base to Heraklion and Bourgas next year. They will begin flying on these routes from 08 June 2009.

Wizz Air to move flights to Barcelona

Wizz Air will move their current flights that operate to Girona to Barcelona. This change, effective from mid January 2009, will affect flights from Katowice and Sofia.

New Wizz Air routes from Budapest and Katowice

Wizz Air have announced that they will add a new aircraft to their Budapest base from the end of March 2009. From this time they will begin flying from Budapest to Barcelona, Madrid, Naples and Oslo (Torp). They have also put a new route on sale from Katowice to Kiev, which is due to begin on 29 December 2008.

Nine new Ryanair routes from Birmingham

In January 2008, Ryanair announced that they were making Birmingham their 25th regional base. They have just announced an additional nine new routes from Birmingham which will launch in November 2008. These include flights to Alicante, Fuerteventura, Palma, Murcia, Derry, Katowice, Kaunas, Krakow and Prague.

Polish expansion for Ryanair at Shannon

Ryanair will add three new routes to Poland from their Shannon base during the forthcoming winter season. From November 2008 they will begin flying from Shannon to Katowice, Gdansk and Lodz.

New Wizz Air route to Bulgaria and Greece

Wizz Air will launch four new routes in June 2008, including flights to Bulgaria and Greece. They are scheduled to begin flying from Warsaw and Katowice to Bourgas, from Katowice to Heraklion and from Warsaw to Corfu.

Centralwings flights to Hurghada

centralwings will begin flying this week from their Katowice base to Hurghada in Egypt. They will fly weekly on this route until the middle of March 2008. Flights can be booked now at www.centralwings.com.

Additional Ryanair routes from Dublin this winter

Ryanair will launch six new routes from their Dublin base this winter. During October and November 2007 they will begin flights to Basel, Nice, Prague, Szczecin, Katowice and Budapest. These flights are available to book now.

Wizz Air to begin flying to Gatwick

The Central European low-cost airline, Wizz Air, will begin flying to London (Gatwick) next year. From 31 January 2008, they will begin daily flights from their base in Katowice, Poland, to London (Gatwick). This will bring the number of routes that they offer from Katowice to 25.

centralwings will begin flying to Palma next week from their bases in the Polish cities of Warsaw and Katowice. Flights can be booked from today.

Glasgow to Katowice with Wizz Air

Wizz Air, the low-cost airline based in Central Europe, will begin flying from Glasgow (Prestwick) to the Polish city of Katowice. Flights will begin on 03 September 2007.

Ryanair makes Bristol their 20th base

Today, Ryanair announced that Bristol would become their 20th European base. They announced 13 new routes from their airport, which will begin from November 2007. These include flights from Bristol to Bratislava, Riga, Katowice, Rzeszow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Budapest, Salzburg, Oporto, Knock, Milan (Orio al Serio) and Dinard. This move may surprise some, given that Bristol is a well established easyJet base, and has been for many years.

Ryanair had also announced a new route from Bristol to Derry, but the future of Derry became uncertain today when it had its license to operate flights revoked by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. All flights to Derry are suspended with immediate effect.

Summer exansions for Centralwings at Warsaw

centralwings will expand the number of routes that they fly from their Warsaw base for the summer 2007 season. Throughout the next few months they will begin flying from Warsaw to Chania, Malta, Catania, Palermo, Thessaloniki, Faro, Varna, Heraklion and Rhodos. They will also launch flights from Katowice to Rhodos and from Krakow to Lisbon.

All of these flights are on sale from today at www.centralwings.com.

Three new routes from Katowice

Wizz Air continue to expand their operation at Katowice with the announcement of three new routes. From 29 May 2007 they will fly daily to London (Stansted). From 14 July they will fly to Malmo and from 02 October they will fly to Brussels (Charleroi) (both three times per week).

Wizz Air expansion at Katowice

Wizz Air have announced that they will launch six new routes from their Polish base at Katowice. The start dates of these new routes will be staggered from the end of May 2007. These include flights to Coventry, Bournemouth, Eindhoven, Athens, Heraklion and Bourgas.

Wizz Air launch Poland flights from Belfast

Wizz Air, the Central European low-cost airline, will begin flying to Belfast (International) from Poland. From 29 May 2007 they will fly between Belfast (International) and their bases at Warsaw and Katowice.

Wizz Air continue to grow in Scandinavia

Wizz Air will launch a new route from Katowice to Oslo (Torp) on 19 September 2006. They will fly 3 times per week on this route – which will become their 4th Scandinavian destination.

This should not be confused with a one-off route they are operating to Oslo (International) in mid-June.

Wizz Air to fly to Doncaster

Central European low-cost airline, Wizz Air will begin flying from their Katowice base to Doncaster. The route, which begins on 19 September 2006, will be the first low-cost connection from Doncaster to Poland.

Wizz Air to fly between Hamburg and Katowice

Central European low-cost airline Wizz Air will begin flying from Hamburg (Luebeck) to Katowice from 18 September 2006. They intend to fly 3 times per week.

Wizz Air to connect Cork and Poland

Wizz Air will launch a route from Cork to the Polish city Katowice from 15 July 2006. They will fly 3 times per week on this new route.

Centralwings adds many summer routes

centralwings have announced an additional 21 routes for the upcoming summer 2006 season. They intend to fly most of these routes just once or twice per week. Flights include Warsaw to Lamezia-Terme, Malaga, Corfu, Faro, Heraklion, Chania, Girona, Catania, Rhodos, Palma, Palermo, Thessaloniki and Malta. They will also add routes from Krakow to Heraklion, Malaga and Rhodos.

They will add a couple of routes from Poznan to Heraklion and Palma and from Katowice to Rhodos and Palma.

Centralwings to expand UK and Ireland routes

Centralwings will launch 5 new routes to the UK and Republic of Ireland for the summer 2006 season. They will launch a route from Lodz to Dublin in direct competition with Ryanair, who recently announced that they would start flying this route from 04 April. They will also launch a route to Dublin from Gdansk.

In addition, they will launch routes to Edinburgh from Gdansk and Katowice, and to Leeds (Bradford) from Warsaw. At the same time, Centralwings will also launch a route from Krakow to Bologna (Guglielmo Marconi). All routes commence at the end of March 2006, and are available to book now.

Poland – the hottest country for low-cost flying?

In recent days, both Ryanair and Germanwings have proclaimed their expansion into Poland a success. Ryanair is considering expansion into 5 more airports, and are rumoured to be considering Katowice, Deblin, Lublin-Niedzwiada, Szczytno and Bialystok. Ryanair are expected to announce at least another 2-3 routes to Poland this year.

Both Ryanair and Germanwings have stated that they may be looking to have a base in Poland.

Wizz Air moves in on Amsterdam

Wizz Air will launch 2 new routes to Amsterdam from Katowice (3 times per week) and Budapest (4 times per week). The routes will be launched on 01 November 2005 and 01 December respectively.

Centralwings announces new winter routes

Centralwings have put their winter 2005/06 timetable on sale, including 7 new routes.

This includes 4 new routes from Warsaw to Shannon, Edinburgh, Grenoble and Milan (Malpensa).

They will also begin flying to Dublin from Katowice and Wroclaw on 16 December 2005. They will also launch a route from Wroclaw to Milan (Malpensa)

Centralwings launch summer services

Centralwings will launch a number of summer services from Poland to Greece. The flights, operating either weekly or fortnightly, will commence from the end of May 2005 and operate until mid-October.

They will begin services from Warsaw to Crete (Chania) and Thessaloniki. They will also fly to Crete from Poznan and Krakow, and Thessaloniki from Poznan and Katowice.

Budget airlines add capacity for Pope’s funeral

Extra capacity has been added on flights from Poland to Rome over the coming week, in order that citizens can attend the Pope’s funeral.

Centralwings have added capacity from Warsaw and Krakow to Rome (Ciampino). They also fly from Warsaw to Bologna, where an onward connection to Rome can be made by train.

Sky Europe have added capacity on their flights from Warsaw and Krakow to Rome (Fiumicino). Meanwhile Wizz Air have announced a temporary new route from Katowice to Rome (Fiumicino).

centralwings – a new low cost carrier for Europe!

While the bankruptcy of Air Polonia is still unclear, today we learn that a new low-cost carrier – centralwings – will launch next year, backed by Polish state airline LOT.

centralwings will use 3 bases in Poland, Warsaw, Krakow and Katowice. They will commence flights to London (Gatwick) from Warsaw and Krakow on 01 February 2005.

They will then begin the roll-out of their summer timetable during March – May. This will include routes between Warsaw and Bologna (Guglielmo Marconi), Lisbon, Malta, Girona, Prague, Nuremberg, Catania, from Krakow to Rome (Ciampino) and from Katowice to Cologne-Bonn and Hanover.

Wizz Air adds Palma

Wizz Air have added a route from Katowice to Palma (Mallorca) to their summer timetable, weekly flights appear to commence on 21 June 2005.

Wizz Air announce more summer routes

Over the last few days, a number of new Wizz routes have been released. Beginning on 29 March 2005, they will commence flying between Budapest and Venice, Budapest and Katowice, Katowice and Girona, Gdansk and Stockholm (Skavsta) and Katowice and Frankfurt (Hahn).

Later in the season (21 June) they will begin a new route from Budapest to Palma (Mallorca).

Wizz Air comes to Liverpool

On 06 December 2004, central-European airline Wizz Air are due to launch operations from Liverpool. They will make this a new hub airport, flying to Budapest, Warsaw and Katowice.

This move makes Wizz the first central or eastern European based airline to have a UK hub outside London.

In addition, they have added a new route from Brussels (Charleroi) to Katowice which is due to begin on 04 December.

Wizz Air quietly scraps new routes

We reported in July that Wizz Air would launch new routes on 15 September 2004. It seems they will still launch many of those routes, but today routes from Malmo to Gdansk and Katowice disappeared without trace. These routes were due to begin on 15 September.

This isn’t the first time that Wizz routes have disappeared from their schedule prior to their launch without any official announcement.

Hapag-Lloyd Express and Air Polonia announce code share

Hapag-Lloyd Express and Air Polonia have announced a code share on the routes from Warsaw to Frankfurt (Hahn) and from Katowice to Cologne-Bonn.

This is further evidence of the growing trend towards route sharing and partnering amongst budget airlines in Europe. Both routes are currently operated by Air Polonia.

Rapid Wizz Air expansion

The new central-European startup, Wizz Air, have today announced yet more new routes all over Europe. They have expanded from Budapest, to make it a base, adding new routes to Athens, Rome (Ciampino), Girona, Paris (Beauvais), Prague and London (Luton). All of these routes begin on 24 June 2004.

They have also expanded their main base at Katowice, to include new routes to Athens, Stockholm (Skavsta), Dortmund, Paris (Beauvais), Venice and Munich. These routes will begin from 01 July 2004.

Mysteriously, their previously announced (and already on sale) route from Katowice to Berlin (Schoenefeld) has disappeared from their site.

Continuing to expand their base at Katowice, Wizz Air have announced new routes to Venice (Treviso) and Budapest. Both routes begin on 01 July.

The new Polish budget airline, Wizz Air, today announced their first routes from their base at Katowice. All flights are available for booking from today.

They will initially begin flying on 19 May 2004 to London Luton, Berlin Schoenefeld, Milan Orio al Serio and Rome Ciampino.
