new bmibaby routes to Germany for winter

bmibaby will begin flying four routes to Germany this winter, including flights from East Midlands to Cologne-Bonn and Munich, from Cardiff to Munich and Birmingham to Cologne-Bonn. New bmibaby flights to Grenoble this winter

flybe Summer 2008 expansion

flybe will expand their operation next summer, when they will launch 23 new routes. This will include expansion in Scotland, with new routes being launched from Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow (International), in addition to flights from England (Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton, Exeter, Newquay and Birmingham), Wales (Cardiff) and Northern Ireland (Belfast (City)).

Summer flights to Ibiza with bmibaby

flyforbeans – a new low cost airline based in Cardiff?

flyforbeans is the name of a new low-cost airline that is expected to launch later in the year from Cardiff airport. The airline is a new operation run by an aviation consultancy, Skymerlin.

They are expected to launch flights before the end of the year from Cardiff to destinations in France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Eastern Europe. Flights are expected to go on sale in the autumn.

Following their recent acquisition of BA Connect, flybe have put 11 new routes on sale from their UK hubs. These include flights from Manchester to Bergerac, Limoges and La Rochelle, from Southampton to Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Isle of Man and Frankfurt (International), from London (Gatwick) to Bergerac, from Cardiff to Paris (Charles de Gaulle), from Edinburgh to Rennes and from Guernsey to Norwich and Manchester.

Increased competition at Cardiff

bmibaby have decided to stop operating flights in association with Air Wales on routes from Cardiff to Glasgow (International) and Belfast (International). Air Wales have responded by announcing the launch of their own route to Belfast (City).

In addition, Aer Arann have also announced the launch of 2 new routes to Cardiff, including one from Belfast (City) and one from Dublin (from 27 March 2006). This will mean that there will be 3 low-cost airlines competing on Cardiff to Dublin routes (Aer Arann, Air Wales and Ryanair), and also routes to Belfast (bmibaby, Aer Arann and Air Wales).

New routes for Air Southwest

Air Southwest have announced a number of new routes from 11 April 2006. They will begin flying from Bristol to Norwich, and from Cardiff to Newquay and Manchester. All services will operate daily.

Aberdeen – Newcastle connection with Air Wales

From 14 November 2005, Air Wales will launch a flight, operating 6 times per week, between Aberdeen and Newcastle. This will act as a replacement for the service that they will terminate shortly prior to the 14th, between Plymouth, Liverpool and Aberdeen.

Air Wales already offers connections from Newcastle to Cardiff and Plymouth.

Thomsonfly expands across UK

Thomsonfly has announced that they will begin selling “frequent”, “low-cost” flights from 11 UK regional airports from summer 2006. This will no doubt see capacity from the parent group, Thomson, being utilised for Thomsonfly branded flying.

Thomsonfly already operate flights from Coventry, Doncaster and Bournemouth, but from May 2006 will begin operating flights from Cardiff, Glasgow, London (Luton and Gatwick), Birmingham (International), East Midlands, Manchester and Newcastle. Destinations announced so far include Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza and Palma (Mallorca).

New Thomsonfly routes from these 8 additional regional airports are available to book now at Summer 2006 routes from their current bases will be available to book shortly.

bmibaby winter timetable

bmibaby will put their 2005 winter timetable on sale this week. Routes from Birmingham and Nottingham (East Midlands) will go on sale on 15 June, with Cardiff and Durham Tees Valley routes going on sale the following day.

From 16 June it will be possible to purchase tickets for the new route from Durham Tees Valley to London (Gatwick). bmibaby will commence flying this route on 30 October 2005.

3 new bmibaby routes

bmibaby will launch 3 new routes on 29 March 2005, Cardiff to Faro and Durham Tees Valley to Cork and Paris (Charles de Gaulles).

flybe move in on Norwich

Following their announcement yesterday to make Leeds (Bradford) a new hub, today flybe have announced that they will also make Norwich a hub airport.

They will begin flying from Norwich on 27 March 2005 when they launch routes to Belfast (City) and Edinburgh. On 07 May they will launch a route to Jersey and on 16 June they will launch a daily route to Glasgow (International).

flybe will be the 2nd low-cost airline to make use of Norwich, Air Wales recently began a route between Norwich, Dublin and Cardiff.

Aberdeen to become a new Air Wales destination

Air Wales have started taking bookings for new routes to Aberdeen from 01 November 2004. It would seem that they will operate flights from Cardiff to Aberdeen via Liverpool (stopping, but not changing).

Air Wales announce new budget routes to Norwich

Air Wales will begin flying 2 new routes in November 2004 from Dublin and Cardiff to Norwich. This will be the first time that the airport at Norwich will have been involved in low-cost air travel.
