Massive Ryanair expansion from Alghero, Cagliari and Bologna
Ryanair have announced the acquisition of three new aircraft, which they will base at Alghero and Cagliari, to become their 6th and 7th Italian base airports. At the end of March 2009 they will launch new routes including:
- Alghero to Brussels (Charleroi), Bologna (Forli), Genoa, Oslo (Torp), Paris (Beauvais) and Venice (Treviso).
- Cagliari to Bologna (Forli), Brussels (Charleroi), Cuneo, Edinburgh, Manchester, Genoa, Karlsruhe-Baden, Marseille, Rome (Ciampino), Seville, Trieste, Oslo (Torp), Verona (Brescia) and Weeze.
They will also launch new routes from their Bologna (Guglielmo Marconi) base in December. These will include Bologna (Guglielmo Marconi) to Oslo (Torp), Paris (Beauvais) and Weeze.

Meridiana summer flights
Meridiana have a number of new routes launching for the summer season, including some operated by their partner, EuroFly. From June 2008, they will launch flights from Cagliari to Milan (Malpensa), Florence to Olbia, Lamezia-Terme to Verona (Villafranca), Mykonos to Milan (Malpensa) and Verona (Villafranca) and Santorini to Milan (Malpensa). easyJet to add Swiss flights
This summer easyJet will add flights from their Geneva base to Ajaccio, Split (both from 29 June 2008) and Nantes (from 31 March), and from Basel to Cagliari (from 29 June). They will also begin flying a new route between Berlin (Schoenefeld) and Thessaloniki from 31 March.

Volareweb adds flights from Milan
Volareweb will begin flying from Milan (Malpensa) this winter with ten new routes, adding to their operation at Milan (Linate). From the end of October 2007 they will begin flying from Milan (Malpensa) to Alghero, Cagliari, Helsinki, Lodz, Maastricht, Manchester, Oporto, Pescara, Rotterdam and Wroclaw.

Ryanair to expand at Madrid
From the end of October 2007, Ryanair will begin flying six new routes from their Madrid base. This will include flights to Santander, Girona, Cagliari, Alghero, Liverpool and Frankfurt (Hahn).

Four new easyJet routes from Belfast
easyJet continue to add new routes from their Belfast (International) base. From the end of October 2007, they will begin flying from Belfast (International) to Venice (Marco Polo), Prague, Gdansk and Barcelona. At the same time, they will also launch flights from their Milan (Malpensa) base to Olbia and Cagliari, and from Glasgow (International) to Paris (Charles de Gaulle).

Ryanair to launch 9 new routes from Milan
Ryanair continues their expansion, as they have announced that they will add nine new routes from their Milan (Orio al Serio) base during December 2007/January 2008. They will begin flying from Milan (Orio al Serio) to Alghero, Bari, Cagliari, Billund, Santander, Oporto, Riga and Gothenburg (Saeve).

MyAir will operate late-summer flights from Milan (Orio al Serio) to Cagliari this year. They will fly three times per week from 17 September 2007 and are scheduled to operate flights for just over one month.

Cagliari to Milan with Meridiana
Meridiana will begin weekly flights between Cagliari and Milan (Orio al Serio) from 13 June 2007. The flights, which will operate every Wednesday, are on sale now at www.meridiana.it.

New easyJet routes from Geneva and Berlin
easyJet will begin flying from their Geneva base to Cagliari from 28 June 2007. They will also add two new routes from their Berlin (Schoenefeld) base, flying to Venice (Marco Polo) and Lisbon from 11 May.

Six new Ryanair routes across Europe
Ryanair have announced a further six new routes to be launched over the coming months. These include the reinstating of their flights between London (Stansted) and Brussels (Charleroi) (from 01 June 2007), and new routes from Girona to Cagliari, Bremen to Malaga, Valladolid to Milan (Orio al Serio), Pisa to Cagliari and Rome (Ciampino) to Madrid.

Italian low-cost airline AlpiEagles will launch 2 routes on 03 June 2006 for the summer season. They will fly from Cagliari to Palermo, and from Bari to Olbia.

Meridiana to fly to Malta
Meridiana will begin flying from Bologna (Guglielmo Marconi) to Malta from 02 June 2006. They will also begin flying a route between Paris (Charles de Gaulle) and Olbia via Cagliari from the beginning of June.

AlpiEagles adds 2 routes to Sardinia
From June 2006, Italian low-cost airline AlpiEagles will begin flying between Verona (Villafranca) and Cagliari, and between Rome (Fiumicino) and Olbia. These routes are in addition to the currently timetabled flights to Sardinia during the summer season.

helvetic ‘optimises’ route schedule
helvetic will add 3 new routes for the forthcoming summer 2006 season. From the end of March 2006, they will begin flying from their Zurich base to Ibiza, Olbia and Cagliari.
Prior to this, however, they will withdraw one of their aircraft from service and lay off 14 staff. They will also stop flying to Madrid, Prague and Rome.

easyJet expands in Italy
easyJet have taken the opportunity today to announce 4 new routes to Italy, presumably following the loss of Volareweb from low-cost Europe.
They will launch 2 new routes from Berlin (Schoenefeld) to Pisa and Olbia, both routes will commence on 08 April 2005. In addition, they will begin a new route from London (Gatwick) to Olbia on 27 May and one from London (Luton) to Cagliari on 21 April.

Volareweb launch winter timetable
Volareweb have announced a large expansion for thier operation, based in Italy. On 31 October they will launch 10 new routes.
From Bologna, they will begin flights to Bari, Cagliari, Catania and Palermo. They will also begin flying routes from Bari to Catania and Palermo. At Milan, they will launch 2 new routes from different airports, from Malpensa they will fly to the Romanian capital of Bucharest and from Orio al Serio they will fly to Lamenzia-Terme. Finally, from Naples they will launch 2 new routes to Catania and Palermo.
