Spanish low-cost airline Vueling will begin flying from their Barcelona base to San Sebastian next spring. They will fly daily on this route from the end of March 2012 and will become the first low-cost airline to fly to San Sebastian. Book now at www.vueling.com.

Germanwings will this summer open a new base at Hanover and launch 15 new routes. From May 2010 they will begin flights to Stuttgart, Bastia, Palma, Vienna, Barcelona, Heraklion, Moscow (Vnukovo), Zadar, Budapest, London (Stansted), Rome (Fiumicino), Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Milan (Malpensa) and Split.
They are expected to create around 70 new flights per week which will be operated by three aircraft.

Norwegian Air Shuttle have put 7 new routes on sale from their Stockholm (Arlanda) and Copenhagen bases for the winter 09/10 season. This winter they will operate flights from Copenhagen to Barcelona, Geneva and Salzburg. They will also open routes from Stockholm (Arlanda) to Barcelona, Geneva, Salzburg and Tenerife (Sur). Meridiana have announced four new routes that will operate during their summer season. easyJet have put two new routes on sale which will operate from Rome (Fiumicino) – on 05 December 2008 they will launch flights from Rome (Fiumicino) to Bari and Palermo. They have also put a new route from Paris (Charles de Gaulle) to Barcelona on sale which will commence from 12 February 2009.
Wizz Air have announced that they will add a new aircraft to their Budapest base from the end of March 2009. From this time they will begin flying from Budapest to Barcelona, Madrid, Naples and Oslo (Torp). They have also put a new route on sale from Katowice to Kiev, which is due to begin on 29 December 2008.

Norwegian Air Shuttle have put on sale flights from their Oslo (International) base to Barcelona, launching next month (from 27 October 2008). They will also begin flying from Warsaw to Salzburg from January 2009.

Wizz Air have announced that they will open their 10th base at Timisoara in Romania. They have put eight routes on sale to this new airport, including flights from London (Luton), Dortmund and Rome (Fiumicino) (all beginning 17 December 2008) and from Barcelona, Milan (Orio al Serio), Paris (Beauvais), Rome (Fiumicino), Valencia and Venice (Treviso) (from 11 March 2009). centralwings have put on sale new flights from their Krakow base to Barcelona. The flights, which will operate three times per week, will begin from 01 May 2008. They appear to be replacing flights on a withdrawn route from Krakow to Girona.

bmibaby have announced three new routes to Spain and Portugal from their Manchester base. From 16 June 2008 they will launch flights from Manchester to Lisbon and Madrid, and from 08 September they will begin flying from Manchester to Barcelona. clickair will begin flying to the Canary Islands from their Barcelona base next year. From 23 January 2008, they will begin flying from Barcelona to Arrecife, and from 26 January to Fuerteventura. Flights are available to book on these new routes immediately.

Wizz Air will expand their base at Sofia next year, with the announcement that they will launch new routes in July 2008, and increase frequencies on existing routes. From 12 July they will launch new routes from Sofia to Varna, Milan (Orio al Serio), Valencia, Barcelona and Izmir.

Wizz Air have announced that they will cease operating flights to Tirgu Mures in Transylvania, and will move these flights to Cluj-Napoca. On 13 November 2007, they will move flights to Barcelona, London (Luton), Budapest and Rome (Fiumicino). On 28 February 2008 they will launch a new route from Dortmund to Cluj-Napoca, replacing the previously announced new route to Tirgu Mures.

Click4Sky is a new low-cost airline created by CSA Czech Airlines. Unlike most other low-cost airlines, Click4Sky does not operate any flights – instead it is being used as a marketing brand in order to sell unsold seats on existing CSA flights. In addition, the airline will sell all seats at a fixed price. Customers travelling with Click4Sky will experience exactly the same on-board service as those travelling with CSA.
They will sell tickets on flights to 36 European destinations from their Prague hub. Norwegian Air Shuttle, currently based at Oslo (International), will begin flying from the new low cost airport for the city, Oslo (Rygge), next year. They will begin flights there from mid-February 2008, and destinations from Oslo (Rygge) will include: London (Stansted), Alicante, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Marrakech, Warsaw, Szczecin, Palanga, Budapest, Istanbul (Sabiha), Athens, Belgrade and Bergen.

From the end of October 2007, they will begin flying from Belfast (International) to Venice (Marco Polo), Prague, Gdansk and Barcelona. easyJet have put more new routes on sale for the winter 2007/08 season. These include flights from their Bristol and London (Stansted) bases to Funchal. These will be their first routes to Funchal. They will also begin flying from Bristol and London (Gatwick) to Lisbon, from Edinburgh and Bournemouth to Krakow and from Barcelona to Lyon. All of these flights begin operating from 28 October 2007.

clickair will begin yet more new flights from their Barcelona base in the coming months. From 01 April 2007, they will launch flights to Casablanca and Marrakech in Morocco. From the beginning of May they will also launch flights to Palermo and Marseille.

Just in time for the launch of clickair at Barcelona, Spanish competitor Vueling will launch flights from Jerez to Barcelona. Vueling will begin flights on this route at the end of March 2007, whereas clickair are not due to commence flying this route until August.
The recently launched Spanish low-cost airline, clickair, has launched an assault on the competition at Barcelona airport. Over the coming months they will launch 11 new routes, including flights to Verona (Villafranca), Venice (Marco Polo), Naples, Rome (Fiumicino), Pisa, Helsinki, Bucharest (Otopeni), Budapest, Vienna, Jerez and Warsaw.
Italian low-cost airline MyAir will begin flights from Bucharest (Baneasa) to Barcelona. Flights will begin on 01 June 2007. This will be a new departure for them because currently, all of their routes from Bucharest (Baneasa) are to destinations in Italy.

Spanish low-cost airline clickair will expand their operation to include flights to the Galicia region of Spain. From 01 April 2007 they will begin flying from their Barcelona base to La Coruna, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo. They will become the first low-cost airline to fly to Vigo.

Despite only being a short distance from their Bratislava base, Central European low-cost airline Sky Europe will open a base at Vienna from 25 March 2007. Traditionally, Vienna has been ignored by many low-cost airlines due to the high landing fees that airlines must pay to fly there.
From March 2007, Sky Europe will fly from Vienna to Barcelona, Amsterdam, Brussels (International), Paris (Orly), Nice, Venice (Treviso), Florence, Rimini, Bucharest (Baneasa), Sofia, Athens, Thessaloniki, Larnaca, Zadar, Dubrovnik and Split.

FlyGlobespan has announced the launch of four new routes from Durham Tees Valley and six from Aberdeen for the summer 2007 season. They will begin flying from Durham Tees Valley to Malaga, Palma, Alicante and Faro. From Aberdeen they will fly to Paphos (Cyprus), Alicante, Palma, Faro, Murcia and Barcelona.

clickair, the new Spanish low-cost airline partially owned by Iberia – the national carrier of Spain, have put their first flights on sale. The flights, commencing 01 October 2006, include routes from Barcelona (their primary base) to Seville, Geneva, Zurich, and Lisbon. They will also fly from Seville to Paris (Orly). In November, they will launch flights from Valencia to Paris (Orly) and Rome (Fiumicino).

Iberia, the Spanish national carrier is to launch a low-cost airline later this year. Details regarding the airline, which is believed to be called Clickair, are expected to be revealed later in the week.
They are expected to begin flying from Barcelona with 3 aircraft, with more to come later in the year.
