Vueling to fly Seville to Tenerife

Vueling and Clickair to merge

Spanish low-cost airlines Vueling and clickair have announced an agreement to merge in an attempt to remain competitive in the European low-cost airline industry. Under the deal announced, Clickair (which is currently owned by incumbent Iberia, who hold an 80% share) will be absorbed into Vueling. More information is available at www.vueling.com.

Ibiza expansion for Vueling

Spanish low-cost airline Vueling will launch a number of flights to Ibiza from the end of April. On 25 April 2008 they launch flights from Madrid to Ibiza. New Canary Island routes for Vueling

Vueling, the Spanish low-cost airline, will begin flights to the Canary Islands this summer. New Jerez flights from Vueling

The new Spanish low-cost airline clickair will go into direct competition with Vueling with their latest route announcement. From 26 March 2007, clickair will operate flights from Malaga to Bilbao, which is also a route offered by rival Vueling.

Vueling to open new international base

Vueling, the Spanish low-cost airline, are currently investigating opening a hub airport outside Spain. Although they currently operate a number of flights to international airports, they are now actively looking for a non-Spanish base.

Clickair to expand flights to London and Barcelona

clickair, the new Spanish low-cost airline, will begin flying to London (Heathrow) on 01 February 2007, and will launch an extensive operation from Barcelona in the first quarter of 2007.

They will fly from London (Heathrow) to Valencia and Seville. From Barcelona they will launch nine new routes, including flights to Malaga, Oporto, Frankfurt (International), Munich, Berlin (Tegel), Basel, Amsterdam, Dublin and Prague. This will come as a major challenge to Vueling, whose main base is at Barcelona.

Vueling plans public flotation

It has been reported that Vueling, the Spanish low-cost airline, is planning a public flotation with an approximate value of €350 million. This comes at a time when the Spanish low-cost market is growing considerably. Amongst other things, around a third of all passengers arriving in Spain now do so using a low-cost airline, the Spanish flag carrier (Iberia) has a significant investment in a new Spanish low-cost airline, clickair, and easyJet intend to launch a new base in Madrid.
