Ryanair expands at Weeze
Ryanair will expand their operation at Weeze airport (or Dusseldorf as they like to call it) this winter. From 27 October 2008 they will begin flying from Weeze to Birmingham, Manchester, Dublin, Tenerife (Sur), Santander, Faro, Ancona, Oslo (Torp), Gothenburg (Saeve) and Riga.

New Ryanair routes from Luton and Stockholm
Ryanair have put five new winter routes on sale, which will begin flying at the end of October 2008. These include a new route from their London (Luton) base to Biarritz, and flights from Stockholm (Skavsta) to the Polish cities of Krakow, Lodz and Wroclaw as well as the Czech capital, Prague.

Bari to Malta with Ryanair
Ryanair have announced that they will begin flying between Bari and Malta from 28 October 2008. This will replace a less financially viable route between Malta and Bremen.

Nine new Ryanair routes from Birmingham
In January 2008, Ryanair announced that they were making Birmingham their 25th regional base. They have just announced an additional nine new routes from Birmingham which will launch in November 2008. These include flights to Alicante, Fuerteventura, Palma, Murcia, Derry, Katowice, Kaunas, Krakow and Prague.
Polish expansion for Ryanair at Shannon
Ryanair will add three new routes to Poland from their Shannon base during the forthcoming winter season. From November 2008 they will begin flying from Shannon to Katowice, Gdansk and Lodz.
Ryanair to fly Knock - Liverpool route
Ryanair are to begin flying from Knock to Liverpool. They will operate daily flights on this route from 27 October 2008.

Massive additions to Ryanair winter flight schedule
Although Ryanair have made it known that they intend to ground some of their fleet this winter due to the high cost of oil, they have just announced details of 40 new routes that they will begin flying this winter. The new routes begin from the end of October 2008, and include:
- Bremen to Fuerteventura, Gothenburg (Saeve), Marrakech and Tenerife (Sur)
- Bournemouth to Milan (Orio al Serio) and Paris (Orly)
- Bristol to Gdansk, Marrakech and Szczecin
- Brussels (Charleroi) to Fez, Gdansk, Manchester, Marrakech, Riga, Tangier and Wroclaw
- Frankfurt (Hahn) to Birmingham, Klagenfurt and Prague
- Glasgow (Prestwick) to Faro, Malaga and Tenerife (Sur)

14 new Ryanair routes this autumn
Ryanair will begin flying 14 new routes for the winter season, beginning on 27 October 2008. These new routes include:
- Bremen to Fuerteventura, Gothenburg (Saeve), Marrakech and Tenerife (Sur)
- Bournemouth to Milan (Orio al Serio) and Paris (Orly)
- Glasgow (Prestwick) to Faro, Malaga and Tenerife (Sur)

London to Zweibrucken with Ryanair
Ryanair will begin flying from their London (Stansted) base to Zweibrucken this winter. They will begin flying on this route from 28 October 2008.

Ryanair to fly Dublin to Kerry
Ryanair will begin flying from their Dublin base to Kerry this summer. They will fly three times daily on this route from 22 July 2008. Ryanair were awarded the PSO contract by the Irish Department of Transport to subsidise this service.

Ryanair have announced two new routes to their Frankfurt (Hahn) base. They will add flights from Manchester and Hamburg (Luebeck) to Frankfurt (Hahn) from October 2008.

Ryanair will launch two new routes for summer from their London (Stansted) base. From June 2008 they will fly from London (Stansted) to Rimini and Beziers for the remainder of the summer season.

Ryanair to fly French and German domestic routes
Ryanair have put their first domestic routes in France and Germany on sale. These include flights from Marseille to Paris (Beauvais), and from Berlin (Schoenefeld) to Frankfurt (Hahn), which will begin operation in May. They will also begin new flights from East Midlands to Malaga and Stockholm (Skavsta) to Rostock-Laage (from 04 June), Shannon to Berlin (Schoenefeld) (from 30 May), Milan (Orio al Serio) to Trapani (from 02 July), and Alghero to Rome (Ciampino) (from 01 August).

Ryanair to open 27th base at Edinburgh
Ryanair will make Edinburgh their 27th base this year. They will add twice weekly flights from Edinburgh to Weeze from June 2008. In September, they will also launch flights to Billund, Berlin (Schoenefeld), Bournemouth, Bratislava, Krakow, Lodz, Poznan, Palma, Stockholm (Skavsta) and Wroclaw.

Ryanair to make base at Reus
Ryanair will make the Reus their 26th European base. They have put four new routes on sale, beginning October 2008, from Reus to Santander, Santiago de Compostela, Seville and Paris (Beauvais).

Birmingham to become 25th base for Ryanair
Ryanair will expand their capacity at Birmingham from mid-June 2008, making it their 25th base. During this time of expansion they will add flights to Biarritz, Billund, Bologna (Forli), Bratislava, Bydgoszcz, Dinard, Gdansk, Olbia, Oporto, Oslo (Torp), Perpignan, Poitiers, Reus, Rzeszow, Stockholm (Skavsta), Trapani and Trieste.

Shannon to Mallorca with Ryanair
Ryanair will launch their 31st new route from Shannon in March, when they will begin flights to Palma. They will begin operating on this route from 14 March 2008.

Bournemouth to become Ryanair’s 24th base
Ryanair today announced that they would make Bournemouth their 24th base. From April 2008 they will base one aircraft at Bournemouth that will be use to service five new routes. These new routes include flights to Malaga, Murcia, Palma, Nantes and Wroclaw.

Ryanair to launch 50 new routes
Ryanair today announced a huge batch of new routes, which amount to some 50 new low-cost routes across Europe. All of these new routes have been added to our database, and include the first budget flights to Constanta in Romania and Angouleme in France.

Ryanair have put four new routes on sale from their Dublin and Cork bases. These include flights from Dublin to Tours, Rodez and Brest (from April 2008), and from Cork to Carcassonne (from the end of May).

Ryanair have put four new routes on sale, including one from their Shannon base to Alicante, and three routes from Dublin. The new routes from Dublin include flights to Palma and Santander in Spain, and Zadar in Croatia.

Ryanair to launch three French routes from Bristol
Ryanair continue to announce expansion to their new Bristol base with the addition of three new routes. From May 2008 they will begin flying to Beziers, Bergerac and Pau. This will be the first time that a low-cost airline has flown to Beziers.

Ryanair announce new routes from Cork and Malta
From 13 December, Ryanair will begin daily flights from Cork to their East Midlands and Glasgow (Prestwick) bases. They have also announced that they will begin flying from Malta to Venice (Treviso) (also from mid-December) - their eighth low-cost route from Malta.

Ryanair have made five new routes available which will commence flying in November 2007. New routes from Bremen and winter flights for Ryanair
Ryanair will launch two new routes from their Bremen base at the end of October 2007. They will launch flights to both Alicante and Palma. They have also put three new winter routes on sale from Bournemouth to Milan (Orio al Serio), Liverpool to Friedrichshafen, and Stockholm (Skavsta) to Grenoble.

Ryanair to charge passengers to check-in
The latest addition of charges for low-cost travellers comes from Ryanair, who have decided to charge passengers for making use of check-in facilities at airports. From 20 September 2007, all passengers making new reservations will have to pay a fee of £2 (€3) per passenger journey to use the airport check-in facilities.
Passengers will be able to check-in online for free, but this is only an option for those with hand luggage only. Those who wish to travel with hold luggage will have to pay the new charge, in addition to the charges already imposed by the airline for hold luggage.

Additional Ryanair routes from Dublin this winter
Ryanair will launch six new routes from their Dublin base this winter. During October and November 2007 they will begin flights to Basel, Nice, Prague, Szczecin, Katowice and Budapest. These flights are available to book now.

From the end of October 2007, Ryanair will begin flying six new routes from their Madrid base. This will include flights to Santander, Girona, Cagliari, Alghero, Liverpool and Frankfurt (Hahn).

Valencia and Alicante to become Ryanair bases
Ryanair will open their 21st and 22nd bases this year at Alicante and Valencia airports, in Spain. They will add new routes from Alicante during November and December 2007, including flights to Karlsruhe-Baden, Basel, Billund, Bournemouth, Brussels (Charleroi), Doncaster, East Midlands, Gothenburg (Saeve), Maastricht, Milan (Orio al Serio) and Paris (Beauvais).
They will add new routes from Valencia in October, to make this their 22nd base. The new routes include flights to Karlsruhe-Baden, Basel, Billund, Bologna (Forli), Eindhoven, Liverpool, Malta, Maastricht, Paris (Beauvais), Oporto and Santiago de Compostela.

Ryanair to fly from Belfast City
Ryanair have put a number of new routes on sale, including flights from Belfast (City). From the end of October 2007, they will begin flying to Belfast (City) from East Midlands, Liverpool and Glasgow (Prestwick).
They have also put flights on sale from Bristol to Turin, from East Midlands to Grenoble, Poznan, Szczecin and Tenerife (Sur), from Liverpool to Budapest, Bydgoszcz, Fuerteventura, Grenoble, Lodz, Szczecin and Tenerife (Sur), and from Glasgow (Prestwick) to Grenoble, Budapest and Kaunas.

Ryanair route reshuffle
Ryanair will cancel a number of routes, in order to launch some new ones later this year. They have put new routes on sale (beginning 28 October 2007) from Marseille to Marrakech and Fez, Dublin to Stockholm (Skavsta), Bremen to Budapest, London (Stansted) to Billund, Girona to Poznan, Brno and Linz and from Milan (Orio al Serio) to Lamezia-Terme.

Ryanair continue to grow at Shannon with the announcement that they will launch eight new routes this November. These will include flights from Shannon to London (Luton), Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Dublin, Tenerife (North), Fuerteventura, Riga and Kaunas.

Ryanair makes Bristol their 20th base
Today, Ryanair announced that Bristol would become their 20th European base. They announced 13 new routes from their airport, which will begin from November 2007. These include flights from Bristol to Bratislava, Riga, Katowice, Rzeszow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Budapest, Salzburg, Oporto, Knock, Milan (Orio al Serio) and Dinard. This move may surprise some, given that Bristol is a well established easyJet base, and has been for many years.
Ryanair had also announced a new route from Bristol to Derry, but the future of Derry became uncertain today when it had its license to operate flights revoked by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. All flights to Derry are suspended with immediate effect.

Ryanair continues their expansion, as they have announced that they will add nine new routes from their Milan (Orio al Serio) base during December 2007/January 2008. Ryanair have announced the launch of eight new routes from their Girona base this winter. These include flights from Girona to Billund, Bratislava, Fez, Marrakech, Graz, Hamburg (Luebeck), Malta and Wroclaw. The launch of these flights will be staggered during October and November.

Ryanair launches base at Weeze
Ryanair have announced eight new routes from Weeze (or Dusseldorf Weeze as they like to call it), which they will launch this October. These new routes include flights to Trapani, Milan (Orio al Serio), Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Fuerteventura and Marrakech.
They will also launch flights (four times per week) from Weeze to the Swedish city of Vaxjo. Ryanair will become the first low-cost airline to fly to Vaxjo, and it is anticipated that they may launch further routes to Vaxjo over the coming months.

Four new Ryanair routes from Bournemouth and Frankfurt
Ryanair will begin flying four new routes from their Bournemouth and Frankfurt (Hahn) bases. From 07 May 2007 they will begin flying from Bournemouth to Marseille, and from Frankfurt (Hahn) to Marrakech, Fez and Faro. These new flights are on sale now.
Transatlantic low-cost flights for Ryanair?
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary has unveiled that Ryanair, or a subsidiary airline, intends to begin operating transatlantic flights within the next 3 to 4 years. Using a fleet of aircraft that are larger than those currently operated by Ryanair, they intend to fly up to 50 planes to airports in North America. O’Leary expects that they will sell tickets from as little as £7.

Ryanair to restart flights between London and Brussels
Ryanair will reinstate flights between London (Stansted) and Brussels (Charleroi). Flights to Brussels (Charleroi) were withdrawn after a dispute over airport charges, but will be restarted from 01 June 2007.

Ryanair begin flights to Maribor
Ryanair will begin flying from their London (Stansted) base to Maribor, the 2nd largest city in Slovenia. They will fly three times per week from 05 June 2007. They will become the first low-cost airline to fly to Maribor and this announcement will end months of speculation about whether Ryanair would fly to Maribor.
They will also begin twice weekly flights from Stockholm (Skavsta) to Rimini at the same time.

Expansion across Europe for Ryanair
In addition to their recent announcement to make Weeze their 19th base, Ryanair will launch a further 12 routes over the coming months. These include flights from Liverpool, London (Stansted) and Pisa to Palma and Alicante, Rome (Ciampino) to Zaragoza (Spain), London (Stansted) to Zadar (Croatia), Girona to Maastricht, Dublin to Bremen and Alicante and Frankfurt (Hahn) to Palma.
Weeze airport becomes 19th base for Ryanair
Ryanair will increase their presence at Weeze airport from July 2007. They will make it their 19th European base and add four new routes including flights to Alghero, Palma, Alicante and Venice (Treviso).

Ryanair will begin flying two new routes from their Dublin base to Poland. From May 2007 they will begin flying from Dublin to Bydgoszcz and Gdansk.

Six new Ryanair routes across Europe
Ryanair have announced a further six new routes to be launched over the coming months. These include the reinstating of their flights between London (Stansted) and Brussels (Charleroi) (from 01 June 2007), and new routes from Girona to Cagliari, Bremen to Malaga, Valladolid to Milan (Orio al Serio), Pisa to Cagliari and Rome (Ciampino) to Madrid.

Ryanair modifies flights from Marseille
Ryanair will add new routes from Marseille from 17 January 2007. They will begin flying from Marseille to Malmo, Hamburg (Luebeck) and Gothenburg (Saeve), but have removed from sale all of their flights from Marseille to Morocco. They have also removed Moroccan flights from Frankfurt (Hahn), but will launch a route from Frankfurt (Hahn) to Malaga in January.

Ryanair expansion at Madrid airport
Ryanair will make Madrid their 18th European base, and from 22 November 2006 will begin flying 14 new routes. They will begin flying to Dublin, Shannon, Eindhoven, Faro, Oporto, Marseille, Paris (Beauvais), Billund, Brussels (Charleroi), East Midlands, Oslo (Torp), Bournemouth, Gothenburg (Saeve) and Malmo.
This expansion at Madrid may come as a surprise, given that only 2 weeks ago easyJet announced that they would expand their operation from Madrid from February 2007.

Ryanair expansion at Nottingham East Midlands
From 12 February 2007, Ryanair will expand their operation from East Midlands. During a two week period they will launch 10 new routes. They will begin flying to Inverness, Knock, Valencia, Santiago de Compostela, Granada, Alghero, Milan (Orio al Serio), Pisa, Krakow and Bratislava.

Ryanair will add 17 new routes from their Girona base in February and March 2007. These new routes include flights to the Canary Islands and North Africa, with flights to Tenerife (North), Fuerteventura and Marrakech. They will also add flights to other European cities, including Bristol, Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley in the UK, Oporto and Faro in Portugal, Trapani, Bologna (Forli), Pescara and Verona (Brescia) in Italy, Gothenburg (Saeve) and Malmo in Sweden, Aarhus (Denmark), Oslo (Torp) (Norway) and Altenburg (Germany). Bremen is made Ryanair’s 17th base
Ryanair will make Bremen their 17th European base airport. They will base two aircraft there from April 2007, and will launch nine new routes. The new routes will include flights to London (Stansted), Girona, Murcia, Tampere, Riga, Verona (Villafranca), Venice (Treviso), Pisa and Oslo (Torp).

Ryanair will introduce 7 new routes to their network over the coming months. From the end of October 2006 they will begin flying from London (Luton) and Pisa to Malta, and from Pisa to Billund and Seville. From early November they will fly from Frankfurt (Hahn) to Billund, in December they will begin flights from London (Stansted) to Perugia and in February 2007 they will launch flights between Dublin and Malta. All of these flights are now on sale.

Ryanair to fly to the Canaries
Ryanair will launch three new routes from Dublin next year. This will include a new service to Malta, as well as new routes to Stockholm and the Canary Islands. The announcement is significant because the new route to the Canaries will have a longer flying time than any of their existing routes. This indicates a willingness to fly longer distances, and suggests that almost any route in Europe may be considered acceptable for low-cost flying. This contradicts previous wisdom that shorter flights were the only routes considered sufficiently profitable.
easyJet and Ryanair to fly to Malta
Earlier this week, the Maltese government finally gave the go-ahead for Ryanair and easyJet to begin flying to Malta. This provides these airlines with considerable subsidies towards the operation of flights to the region.
Ryanair is expected to launch services from their Dublin base from February 2007, and also from London (Luton) and Pisa, possibly as early as October this year. easyJet have not yet confirmed whether they will begin flying to Malta, but their proposed routes are from London (Luton) and Basel.

Ryanair intend to fly to Malta
After considerable delay, it looks like a deal is imminent between Ryanair and the Maltese Government regarding landing fees in Malta. This should see Ryanair fly to Malta from London (Luton), Pisa and Dublin, with flights possibly beginning as early as 31 October 2006. However, the final details are yet to be confirmed and flights are not yet on sale.
