Linz to Cologne with Hapag-Lloyd Express
From 25 March 2007 Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin flying between Cologne-Bonn and Linz. They will fly 6 times per week on this route. Flights will be available to book at www.hlx.com.

Hapag-Lloyd Express to fly to Calvi (Corsica)
Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin flying to Calvi on the island of Corsica next year. They will fly weekly from their Cologne-Bonn base beginning 31 March 2007. This will be the first low-cost airline route to Calvi. Visit www.hlx.com for more information.

Hapag-Lloyd Express add flights to Rimini
Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin flying from their bases at Munich and Stuttgart to Rimini in Italy. Flights will begin from 15 May 2007. They will also launch a route from Hanover to Valencia at the end of March 2007. Flights on all of these new routes can be booked at www.hlx.com.

Hapag-Lloyd Express and Hapagfly to merge
German low-cost airline Hapag-Lloyd Express is to be merged with charter operator Hapagfly. Both airlines are owned by TUI, who wish to merge them in order to obtain efficiency gains. Further details are expected to be announced later in the year.

Hapag-Lloyd Express expansion at Leipzig
From the end of October 2006, Hapag-Lloyd Express will launch new routes from Leipzig to Dusseldorf and Munich. They will also add 2 new routes from Leipzig to Salzburg and Klagenfurt from mid-December.

Hapag-Lloyd Express begin flying to Morocco
Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin flying from their Cologne-Bonn base to Nador in Morocco from 24 June 2006. They will fly twice weekly on this route, and tickets can be booked at www.hlx.com.

TUI plans monster low-cost merger
It has been reported that TUI Group, which owns Hapag-Lloyd Express, are in discussions with a number of other low-cost airlines regarding a potential merger.
They are believed to be talking to Air Berlin, dba and Condor. Their intention would be to create a low-cost airline large enough to compete with the major 2 European budget airlines, easyJet and Ryanair.

Fly between Palermo and Berlin with Hapag-Lloyd Express
German low-cost airline Hapag-Lloyd Express will fly between Berlin (Tegel) and Palermo from 24 June 2006. They have also done a deal with Meridiana such that some Hapag-Lloyd Express routes are advertised on the Meridiana site.

Hapag-Lloyd Express takes over from Germanwings at Birmingham
Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin flying between Birmingham and Cologne-Bonn from early May 2006. This is in response to the announcement that Germanwings will scrap their flights on this route at the end of March.

Hapag-Lloyd Express summer 2006 flight schedule
Hapag-Lloyd Express will put their summer flight schedule (for flights between 26 March - 30 September 2006) on sale today at 17:00 (UK time).
They will launch a number of new routes, including Manchester to Hanover, Westerland (Sylt) to Hanover, Cologne-Bonn and Stuttgart, and from Leipzig to Stuttgart.

Hapag-Lloyd Express adds routes
Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin operating 3 new routes from 14 December 2005, including Munich to Bari and Naples and from Stuttgart to Stockholm (Arlanda). On 09 January 2006, they will also launch a route from Stuttgart to Milan (Malpensa).

Hapag-Lloyd Express released the 2nd part of their winter timetable today at 5pm (GMT).
Amongst the routes on sale is a new route from Hanover to Stuttgart.

Hapag-Lloyd Express to Westerland
Hapag-Lloyd Express will launch a summer route from Cologne-Bonn to Westerland (Sylt) on 08 July 2005. This route will be operated twice per week until 22 August.

Germanwings winter schedule on sale
Following the announcement by Hapag-Lloyd Express, Germanwings have announced that they will begin the sale of flights from their 2005/06 winter schedule this afternoon at 4pm (GMT). This will include flights until 25 March 2006.
They will also put their routes on sale in phases. This first phase will include new routes from Berlin (Schoenefeld) to Oslo, Prague and Warsaw.

Hapag-Lloyd Express announce new routes for 05
Hapag-Lloyd Express have announced a selection of new routes which they will begin flying from 09 March 2005. These include Cologne-Bonn to Shannon, Newcastle and Rijeka in Croatia. They are the first airline to add Rijeka to the ‘European low-fares map’, and will also fly there from Hanover.
From Hanover they will also begin flying new routes to Stockholm (Arlanda) and Pisa. From Munich they will add routes to Newcastle, Palermo and Olbia,
In addition, on 05 December 2004 Hapag-Lloyd Express will begin a new service connecting Hamburg and Edinburgh.

World Low Cost Airlines Congress
This week, on 21 and 22 September, we will be attending and reporting from World Low Cost Airlines Congress in London. Speakers include Michael O’Leary (Ryanair), Ray Webster (easyJet) and a number of other speakers and panelists from European budget airlines including bmibaby, Hapag-Lloyd Express, Air Polonia, Sky Europe, FlyMe, Wizz Air and Sterling.

Halag-Lloyd Express will begin flying from Berlin (Tegel) to Palermo from 28 June 2004.
Hapag-Lloyd Express and Air Polonia announce code share
Hapag-Lloyd Express and Air Polonia have announced a code share on the routes from Warsaw to Frankfurt (Hahn) and from Katowice to Cologne-Bonn.
This is further evidence of the growing trend towards route sharing and partnering amongst budget airlines in Europe. Both routes are currently operated by Air Polonia.
