Air Southwest to fly to London City

Winter 08/09 flights to Chambery

New flights from Newquay and Plymouth with Air Southwest

Air Southwest will add six new routes from their Newquay and Plymouth bases from 28 April 2008. The new routes include Newquay to Newcastle and Glasgow (International), and Plymouth to Newcastle, Glasgow (International), Dublin and Cork. These new routes can be booked at

Air Southwest are due to begin operating flights between Newquay and Cork. They will fly three times per week from 04 May 2007.

Air Wales to cease flying at the end of April

Air Wales, the Welsh low-cost airline, has announced that they will stop flying regular passenger services from 23 April 2006. This will see the end of their low-cost operation, and they will instead focus on charter and freight flights.

Some of their routes will be taken over by other carriers, including Air Southwest. They claim that anybody booked after that date can apply for a full refund.

New routes for Air Southwest

Air Southwest have announced a number of new routes from 11 April 2006. They will begin flying from Bristol to Norwich, and from Cardiff to Newquay and Manchester. All services will operate daily.

flybe adds 2 Bristol routes

For the upcoming summer season, flybe will add 2 routes from Bristol. From 10 February 2005, they will commence flying to Bergerac until the end of October. On 27 March they are due to commence flying to Jersey, also until the end of the summer season. They will be competing with Air Southwest on this route.

Air Southwest expands

Air Southwest will connect a number of cities in the UK and Ireland after 11 April 2005. They are now taking bookings on new routes including Leeds (Bradford) to Plymouth, Bristol to Dublin, Leeds (Bradford) and Newquay, Newquay to Dublin, Leeds (Bradford) and Manchester.

Their schedules would suggest that they are introducing so many new routes with little overhead by including a number of stops (but not changes) on each journey, so in some cases flying times may appear much longer than you’d expect.

Nonetheless, it is about time that some more low-cost routes became available for shorter distances such as some of these.
