easyJet and Ryanair to fly to Malta

Earlier this week, the Maltese government finally gave the go-ahead for Ryanair and easyJet to begin flying to Malta. This provides these airlines with considerable subsidies towards the operation of flights to the region.

Ryanair is expected to launch services from their Dublin base from February 2007, and also from London (Luton) and Pisa, possibly as early as October this year. easyJet have not yet confirmed whether they will begin flying to Malta, but their proposed routes are from London (Luton) and Basel.
