Air Scotland in trouble?

It has been reported in the news during the last week that Air Scotland flights have been excessively delayed by their inability to pay fuel bills. This inability is allegedly not to do with a lack of finance, but rather confusion during a partial change of ownership.

It would seem that these extensive delays have been building up, and Air Scotland were required to charter in an additional aircraft to clear some of the delay backlog. Unfortunately the aircraft drafted in was unable to help passengers, as the pilot refused to fly until the bill for this temporary charter was settled in full. They were unable to do this, and the additional aircraft charter was cancelled.

This is raising concerns within the industry, and clearly a number of suppliers to Air Scotland are concerned about their ability to pay debts. At this time, it has been recommended that passengers reconfirm their flight times before travelling, in order to determine if their flight will be subject to delay.
