VLM introduces fuel surcharge

In a statement in May 2004, VLM stated that they “certainly don’t intend” to introduce a fuel surcharge. While many traditional scheduled airlines imposed a fuel surcharge last year, and increased it during 2005, the low-cost market remains very divided on this usbject.

As from today, all flights booked with VLM will be subject to a €5 per sector per passenger surcharge.

Key players such as easyJet and Ryanair remain without a fuel surcharge, however other European budget airlines have buckled under the pressure of high oil prices.
