Ryanair to expand at Charleroi

Ryanair will base an additional aircraft at Brussels (Charleroi) next year and launch three new routes at the same time. From the end of March 2009 they will begin flights from Brussels (Charleroi) to Reus, Trieste and Bratislava.

Germanwings to begin flying to Lourdes

Germanwings have put a new route on sale from their Cologne-Bonn base to Lourdes. They are to begin flying twice per week on this route from 18 May 2009.

Transavia to open Copenhagen base

Transavia, the Dutch low-cost airline, have announced that they will open a base at Copenhagen, in place of the recent bankrupted Danish airline Sterling. From 08 December 2008 they will operate 10 routes from Copenhagen including flights to Malaga, Alicante, Arrecife, Las Palmas, Tenerife (Sur), Faro, Rome (Fiumicino), Nice, Salzburg and Innsbruck.

Crete flights from Manchester with Jet2

Jet2 will launch flights from their Manchester base to Heraklion next summer. They will fly weekly on this route from 18 May 2009. Flights can be booked now at www.jet2.com.

London Gatwick - Copenhagen with easyJet

easyJet will launch flights from London (Gatwick) to Copenhagen next year - they will begin flying this route from mid-January 2009. They are also planning to launch flights from Paris (Charles de Gaulle) to Bastia in mid-February 2009.

Wizz Air to launch Oslo - Kiev flights

Wizz Air will begin flying between Kiev and Oslo (Torp) next year. They are due to begin flying twice per week on this route frmo 05 January 2009.

New Spanish Ryanair routes from Gatwick

Ryanair have put on sale two new routes from London (Gatwick) to Spain, bringing their total number of routes operated from Gatwick to 5. From 18 December 2008 they will begin flying from London (Gatwick) to Girona and Alicante.

Ryanair to fly to Lourdes

Ryanair will launch a new route from London (Stansted) to Lourdes this winter. They will begin flying weekly on this route from 20 December 2008.

Sterling Airlines files for bankruptcy

Scandinavian low-cost airline Sterling has this morning announced that they have been forced to file for bankruptcy. They have attributed this to recent oil prices as well as the global economic downturn.

All flights have been cancelled and those that have purchased tickets with Sterling will need to rebook with alternative airlines. Customers who have booked flights which are in fact operated by Norwegian should contact Norwegian for instructions.

Bilbao to Palma with Clickair

clickair will launch a new route between Bilbao and Palma next summer. They are due to begin flying on this route at the end of March 2009.
